Dr. Garnett Wilson, BA, MCS, PhD

Dr. Garnett Wilson

Garnett received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Dalhousie University in 2007, and he is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University. He has worked in the field of evolutionary computation extensively and has published numerous papers and book chapters. During his postdoctoral fellowship studies at Verafin, Inc. and Memorial University of Newfoundland he developed solutions for the detection of debit fraud and money laundering activity in consumer bank account data. Garnett is a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society's Computational Finance and Economics Technical Committee. He has also graduated from the Entrepreneurial Leaders Program of the Wallace McCain Institute at the University of New Brunswick, 2011-2012, and he is currently a member of the Order of Wallace McCain.

Dr. Wolfgang Banzhaf, Dipl Phys, PhD

Dr. Wolfgang Banzhaf

Wolfgang is a recognized world leader in Genetic Programming, and he is currently a Research Professor at Memorial Univeristy of Newfoundland. He has previously held positions at a number of universities and industrial research labs around the world. Prior to joining Memorial as a faculty member, from 1993 to 2003 he was associate professor of Applied Computer Science at one of the largest departments of Computer Science in Germany, the Technical University of Dortmund. Before becoming a full-time academic in 1993, he was a senior researcher in research laboratories of the Mitsubishi Electric Corp in Japan and the United States (1989-1993). He served as Research Associate in the group of Dr. Hermann Haken, University of Stuttgart, the founder of Synergetics from 1985 to 1989 after having completed his PhD in Physics in 1985 at the Technical University of Karlsruhe in Germany.

Derek Leblanc, BSc

Derek Leblanc

Derek received his B.Sc. in Computer Science in 2010 from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a diploma in Computer Programming from Georgian College in 2005 . He is Vice President of Technical Development for Afinin Labs and brings more than ten years professional experience in applications programming and mobile development to the company. He has been published at major international machine learning conferences on the subject of financial analysis since becoming a member of the scientific team.
